Tomorrow at Real Time & Space in Oakland are two artist talks: Kait Mooney and Cybele Lyle, hosted by Aaron Harbour from Et al. This Tuesday, May 28th marks the beginning for the next round of artist talks at Real Time & Space with current resident artist Kait Mooney, and studio artist Cybele Lyle who will be speaking about her upcoming Lecturer’s Project.  Cybele Lyle currently has two shows on view, one at Et al. gallery in Chinatown, San Francisco and SWARM gallery in Oakland.  This looks like a very promising event, exposing the driving concepts of the artists’ work and creating a dialogue with visitors who make time to attend this event.  The artist talk begins at 7:30pm.

For those who don’t know about Real Time & Space aka RTS, it is an amazing facility in Chinatown, Oakland with a variety of studio artists that have some of the most incredible and progressive practices in the Bay Area.  Many of the artists that work their are involved in separate endeavors; one artist is an independent publisher and two other artists run an alternative gallery space called Important Projects in Oakland.  RTS also has a residency program that invites artists to work in their space to produce new works with the support of RTS’s facilities and studio artists.  RTS is not a collective, but rather a haven and creative hub for some of my favorite artists currently working in the Bay Area.  Recently attending an open studio event there for the first time, I was blown away by the quality of work being produced out of RTS.  Almost every artist involved in RTS exhibits around the Bay Area, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you’ve already seen their work on view over the past couple years.  RTS artists include: JASON BENSON, LYDIA BRAWNER, AURORA CRISPIN, JOEL DEAN, IAN DOLTON-THORNTON, STEVEN GAREN, BAILEY HIKAWA, AMY HO, CARRIE HOTT, NICK LALLY, CHRISTINA LINDEN, CYBELE LYLE, MARK NICOLA, POST BROTHERS, EMMA SPERTUS, DAN SWINDEL, MARK INGLIS TAYLOR, and ET AL PROJECTS.
