LA Art Book Fair
The Geffen Contemporary at MOCA
152 North Central Avenue
Los Angeles, CA 90012
February 24-26, 2017
Preview: February 23, 6–9 pm
This February 24 through 26, Printed Matter’s LA Art Book Fair returns to the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA for its fifth edition. The fair features over 300 international presses, booksellers, antiquarians, artists, and independent publishers; a full list of exhibitors is available on the LA Art Book Fair website, as is a schedule of events organized in conjunction with the fair.
At this year’s LA Art Book Fair, SFAQ [Projects] presents a site-specific installation of a reading room by Ohio based artist, Zachary Armstrong, highlighting his recent artist book Big Bag Of Candles, which is a five year survey of his work and studio practice, made as an edition of 100. The installation will also include thirty framed works on paper, functional lamp sculptures, hand carved book ends, and other catalogues by the artist. In contrast with the strenuous setting of a fair, Armstrong aims to bring a sense of domesticity and comfort, allowing viewers to engage with his books in the same comfort that they would at home. On Saturday, February 25, Armstrong will open a solo exhibition, Keith Paintings, at China Art Objects Galleries.
In addition to Armstrong’s project, we will also present new unique objects and hand altered artist publications from San Francisco based Barry McGee, as well as new publication releases by SFAQ [Projects] from Tom Sachs and Kour Pour. Also available: publications and zines from Petra Collins, Swampy, Satan Ceramics, Sandy Kim, Tyler Macko, current issues of LXAQ and NYAQ, and more . . .
