THE THING Quarterly HQ

In conjunction with the San Francisco launch of THE THING THE BOOK, THE THING Quarterly and Chronicle Books host a book signing party at THE THING Quarterly HQ with karaoke, Jell-O shots, and atmospheric interventions by artist collective Bonanza. MacFadden & Thorpe, Kota Ezawa, Anthony Discenza, Tucker Nichols, and Gwen Allen will be present to sign copies of the newly released project.

THE THING Quarterly is a periodical publication of artist-designed objects, produced by Jonn Herschend and Will Rogan. For THE THING THE BOOK, Herschend and Rogan assigned each traditional feature of a book to a different artist or writer to reinterpret and treat as exhibition space. With contributions from John Baldessari, Martin Creed, Miranda July, Laurel Nakadate, Trevor Paglen, Leslie Shows, David Shrigley, Lawrence Weiner, and many more, the result is a beautiful and surprising object.

The signing at THE THING takes place Thursday, October 23, from 6-7 pm, with karaoke and Jell-O shot related activities continuing through 8:30 pm.

Ever Gold Gallery, located next door to THE THING Quarterly at 441 O’Farrell, will stay open late—until 8 pm—the night of the party. It’s Nice Outside, an exhibition of new paintings by Mark Mulroney, opened at Ever Gold just a few days ago.
