This Friday and Saturday, Marian Goodman Gallery (London) and Galerie Marian Goodman (Paris) open simultaneous exhibitions by John Baldessari. At the Marian Goodman Gallery in London, Pictures & Scripts features new works by the artist, and marks the artist’s first solo exhibition in the city since the retrospective retrospective Pure Beauty at Tate Modern in 2009. For the exhibition, Baldessari presents a series of new paintings incorporating appropriated film stills, juxtaposed with narrative film scripts, cropped and over-painted in monochrome fields. At the Galerie Marian Goodman in Paris, Early Work features work from Baldessari’s National City, Commissioned Painting, Thaumatrope, Vanitas, Portrait and Goya series.

Marian Goodman Gallery hosts an opening reception for Pictures & Scripts Friday, February 27, from 5:30–7:30 pm.

Galerie Marian Goodman hosts an opening reception for Early Work Saturday, February 28, from 6–8 pm.
