March 11 – April 17, 2016
Reception: March 11, 7-10 pm

Royal NoneSuch Gallery presents Faces & Vases, a group exhibition taking the role of vases and busts in art history as its subject. Exploring these sculptural forms for their formal characteristics and for their narrative potential, Catherine Fairbanks, Sahar Khoury, Kate Klingbeil, Rainen Knecht, Cammie Staros, and Paula J Wilson present a range of interpretations and reconfigurations of these classical forms. A number of works on view incorporate ceramics in ways that reference very traditional craft processes and formats, but also include painting, sculpture, video, and other mixed media components. Faces & Vases includes papier‐mâché scultpures by Catherine Fairbanks, ceramic, steel, and papier‐mâché sculptures by Sahar Khoury, airbrush paintings by Kate Klingbeil, mixed media wooden masks by Rainen Knecht, ceramic and mixed media sculptures by Cammie Staros, and a video by Paula J. Wilson.
