January 20 – March 4, 2017

Now on view at 1301PE, quack doctor violet “saltwater fish” is a solo exhibition of new work by Petra Cortright. Cortright presents new digital paintings—paintings produced by manipulating web-sourced content (sampling images, extracting color palettes, etc.) and using digital devices to produce new painterly gestures and marks, ultimately transferring these results to substrates (for this exhibition, linen and paper)—as well as a new series of flash animations, presented on monitors throughout the exhibition space.
