Reception: September 15, 6-8 pm

August 25, Mitchell-Innes & Nash opens The Guests All Crowded Into the Dining Room, an exhibition featuring new work by Jessica Stockholder, including a large-scale site-specific installation as well as a number of distinct series of sculptures. Many of the works on view relate to Stockholder’s ongoing series of Assists—sculptures which attach to external structures such as walls, furniture, appliances, etc. Stockholder’s sculptures are made primarily from purchased and found objects—furniture, plastic goods, fabric, hardware, paint, paper—which the artist employs as raw materials, using designed and manufactured components as the substance for painterly sculptural gestures.
