Preview Days: May 2-3, 2018
Public Days: May 4-6, 2018
Frieze returns to Randall’s Island Park this May 2-6, bringing together more than 190 galleries from 30 countries. For the first time, Frieze New York will feature Live, a section for performances, installations and interactive projects, curated by Adrienne Edwards (Performa, New York / Walker Art Center, Minneapolis). Solo exhibitions by 19 emerging galleries comprise Frame, another section of this year’s fair, curated by Andrew Bonacina (The Hepworth, Wakefield) and Laura McLean-Ferris (Swiss Institute, New York). Toby Kamps (Blaffer Art Museum, University of Houston) returns as curator of Spotlight, a section dedicated to 20th-century pioneers. Live, Frame, Focus, and Spotlight are on view in addition to the central Main section of the fair. The gallery presentations at Frieze New York are complemented by a series of talks, performances, and other events: a full schedule is available on the Frieze New York website.
This year’s Frieze Artist Award has been presented to Kapwani Kiwanga, a Paris-based artist who presents an open-air installation in Randall’s Island Park, on view from May 3-6. Kapwani Kiwanga was featured in NYAQ issue 3.
