Currently on view at Gallery 16, San Francisco is “From the Sky Rivers Look Like Snakes” a solo exhibititon by Jason Jägel presenting three bodies of work; large oil paintings, works on paper and smaller mixed media pieces. Jägel’s work cultivates a strong improvisational component born out of autobiographical fiction along with his love of music, comics, and literary fiction. He has created a stylistic form that is immediately recognizable blending elements of abstract painting, comic flatness, and linguistic expression. The spontaneous and improvisational paintings are often dense accumulations of these influences.

“From the Sky Rivers Look Like Snakes” is on view through March 31, 2014.
