Koenig & Clinton presents Carolyn Salas, an exhibition of sculptures by the Brooklyn-based artist. Salas manipulates sculptural materials to produce forms that are not quite as they seem. The careful treatment of her Movement Studies allows them to appear as if solid pieces of lead, though they are the result of meticulous casting and finishing processes; her series of wall reliefs, The Breakups, appear to be composed from cut and torn pieces of Styrofoam, and are actually painted resin, cast from the original refuse. For the exhibition at Koenig & Clinton, Salas presents wall reliefs and freestanding works, including a series of large, wall-like forms placed throughout the gallery space.
